When you Come to the Edge of all You Know

When you come to the edge of all you have ever known, and you are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen: there will be something solid to land on, or you will be given wings to fly!

There is nothing like a disability or personal loss that more clearly defines this experience. Anyone who has gone through this will tell you that all sense of control and self worth go out the window. You are suddenly jobless, broke, unsure where to turn, and life as you know it is upside down or vanquished. You are dealing with doctors, professionals, and institutions that will depersonalize you, treat you as a diagnosis, and dismiss your pleas for help as nonsense. You will be told to “learn to live with it”. This quote was given to me after my first diagnosis, when doctors were less than hopeful. I like the saying because it offers hope and let’s me know that life can be redefined.

Today’s Life Coach Action Plan: Prepare for take off! List and focus on what you still have to operate with: talent, skills, experience, family, etc. Use the wings already you have.

Note: Write and let me know how this works for you.
