In the beginning of your recovery journey, you will have many emotional ‘slips’. You will resort to old negative beliefs. I have learned that these are lies we tell ourselves. You will want to give up trying because you believe your progress is not good enough or fast enough. This is a normal reaction to trauma. You may only be able to be active and productive for 15 minutes per day. We are not shooting for perfection. Give up that notion. let go of society’s definitions of what is useful or normal. Create your own new normals.
Today’s Life Coach Action Plan: Write down the lies you are telling yourself: (i.e., “I am not useful”). Now, ask your higher power for the truth. Now, act as though it is true today. You are worth it.
