Dealing With Anger

It is none of my business what others think of me, and conversely, it is none of their business what I think of them.

~ Myself, 1998

These are two tenets I try to remember when someone upsets me, takes my ideas as their own, or treats me unfairly. A few years ago, I ran a non-profit business out of my home. Two years into the gig, a few clients decided they wanted to run things their own way, so they started a competing business down the street. Beyond the initial anger and resentment, I finally concluded that that was a compliment: to be copied. And, they were practicing the self-empowerment that I had taught them. Good for them. I wished them well. I prayed for their success.

Today’s Life Coach Action Plan: Accept those who have hurt or offended just for today. Wish them well. Pray for their success. Let go of the anger. It only serves to keep you stuck.
